Understanding the anatomy of body building involves having a comprehensive understanding of how your muscles will grow depending on what body building workout you perform. This article will give you a good understanding of the anatomy of body building.
It is very helpful when you are starting to do body building that you understand how the muscles in your body work. Starting at the neck, there are two primary muscles in the neck that you should focus on when performing body building. The upper trapezius muscle goes from the nape of your neck to the shoulder. The other neck muscle is the levator scapulae which runs next to the initial six or so cervical vertebrae that are located in your neck. The trapezius muscles, or the trap muscles, actually run down your back from the nape of the neck down to the waste along both sides of the spine.
The next group of muscles are in the shoulder and are called the deltoid muscles. The anterior delt is located in the front of the shoulder, the posterior del runs down the back of the shoulder while the middle delt, not surprisingly, runs down the shoulder side. The rotator cuff muscle, which often gets in a lot of pain, is actually located below the anterior delt muscle from the armpit. The chest muscles are called the pectoral muscles.
The triceps and biceps are located in the arms. The triceps run down the side of the arms from the shoulder region down to the elbow while the biceps are actually located inside the arm. Additionally, there are an extremely distinct group of muscles located in the forearms. The stomach muscles are frequently named the abs or abdominals.
The quadricep muscles or quads are located in the legs. The hamstring muscle is located in the upper leg.
There is one muscle group that must be a heavy focus of your body building efforts that that is the buttocks or glutes , the lats which are located in the upper back and the muscles in the lower back which are called the lower trap muscles.
Having a greater awareness of your anatomy when you partake in a body building program is a critical part of reaching your body building goals. Once you have a greater awareness of the anatomy or muscle groups in your body you can better grow those muscles and make them a feature of your workouts.
